IDOS (Intellectual Disability Outreach Service)

Is a partnership between Dr Kieran Forster and Dr Luke Hatzipetrou to provide ongoing psychiatric and psychological treatment for people with intellectual disability / ASD and comorbid mental illness. Our main focus is diagnostic formulation and optimisation of psychological, behavioural and pharmacological treatment plans.

Traditionally, people with intellectual disability and pervasive developmental disorders with comorbid mental health disorders are underserviced and fall between the 'gaps' of mental health and the disability services. This has occurred despite the fact that the rates of mental health disorders are estimated between 30–40 percent and much higher than the general population. IDOS attempts to increase access to evidence-based psychiatric and psychological care to this group of people, whose needs are often complex and require a multidisciplinary approach.

The IDOS Clinic is at Stones Corner but we in collaboration with non government service providers, have premises across Brisbane, with future plans to extend to regional areas. Our services are rebateable through Medicare and gap payments contribute to patients reaching the Medicare Safety Net. A referral from a General Practitioner is required before a patient can be accepted.

NOTE: Initial referrals are to be sent individually to either:
